Converting Database Files to Use Quick I/O
Wow, this subject seems somewhat out of place and it is, but nevertheless friends stumble on this problem; the problem of converting your existing database files to use the Veritas QIO ‘filesystem’. I wrote this text over one year ago, for internal use at work, but now I thought that I should post it on my site.

You can convert your existing Sybase database files to use the Quick I/O interface by using the qio_getdbfiles and qio_convertdbfiles commands. These commands are special utilities provided with the VERITAS Database Edition for Sybase (or Oracle) product:

qio_getdbfiles extracts a list of file names from the database system tables.

qio_convertdbfiles converts the list of database files to use Quick I/O.

reset AOLM passwd

To overide the ALOM password on the system you will need to:

1) Attach console to Serial Management Port

2) Power on the server via the front power button. Once POST has completed, you will need to wait 1 to 2 minutes for a timeout to occur and the system to drop to the “ok>” prompt.

If you do not get the “Please login:” prompt (you will likely see the SC prompt) then you must power the system off remove the battery from the LOM board, wait a  minute, and re-install everything).

zipcodes

Playing with mysql database where I have created zipcode database with all the zips in the US, this is for the other work that I did play with setting up AJAX web interface for it.

vxvol -g dg_name start prd1vol
Can you please run that following:

vxassist -g dg_name remove log prd1vol logtype=dco
(this may complain that it has a drl attach to it, use -f option to remove drl)

vxassist -g dg_name -f remove log prd1vol logtype=dco

Then please try :

vxvol -g dg_name startall
