My new FiOS TV

January 15th, 2010 No comments

FiOS TV is great, tv quality is amazing, no NY1 channel but hey who cares, it is just new channel, I was not watching it that much anyway. I get much more programs on FiOS than I was getting on my Time Warner cable receiver. Just so many positive sides. Only negative aspect is that when I did order my card for my TV it did not work. Sales person at Verizon FiOS told me that getting DVR I will be able to see all recordings everywhere. So I asked if I get this cable card that I will be able to do the same? She responded that yes. Which was not true, I was unable to see programs that I recorded with my main box on my cable card. Also that cable card was such a crap, after an hour it did stop working, called tech support at midnight, no one was picking up (Verizon claims that they have 24/7 support), cant imaging that they had such high volume of customers calling. Anyway then I called at 1am, got someone on line, did reset my card, got some programs but they had to reprogram my card. In the morning it was broken again. Then I called at 6am and I got someone. Resolved problem again by resetting my card, and they pushed programming again to that card. Sucks, so I requested to just get a new HD receiver. Tech come over replaced it and everything is working ever since. So small thing, those cards are not to advanced therefore not that great to have them unfortunately.

That is a very sad news, Pioneer made best plasma TV’s ever with darkest black on the market. It was my dream to won one but it was quite expensive, still is but maybe no more, prices on all famous KURO plasmas are dropping, so maybe its time to own one? Well still expensive, when I was looking on pricegrabber.com for KURO tv’s they are still quite expensive… :( I am quite surprised by Pioneer decision to be honest. If they just made their technology just a bit more affordable they would be able to sell those plasmas like there is no tomorrow, but then again, all LCD’s prices dropping and display sizes growing, slowing down economy world wide is just putting them in trouble… Oh well, I’ll still keep looking for my own KURO and even that I might not be able to find parts for it anymore beyond past 2010 I think it might be still worth it to own one…

Anyway what am I looking in TV for? Well I want it all, I want a lot of inputs and possible outputs, I certainly want network, don’t care if it is wireless or wired, and I want it to be 1080p for sure, best if its truly 120Hz display. :)
