FiOS TV is great, tv quality is amazing, no NY1 channel but hey who cares, it is just new channel, I was not watching it that much anyway. I get much more programs on FiOS than I was getting on my Time Warner cable receiver. Just so many positive sides. Only negative aspect is that when I did order my card for my TV it did not work. Sales person at Verizon FiOS told me that getting DVR I will be able to see all recordings everywhere. So I asked if I get this cable card that I will be able to do the same? She responded that yes. Which was not true, I was unable to see programs that I recorded with my main box on my cable card. Also that cable card was such a crap, after an hour it did stop working, called tech support at midnight, no one was picking up (Verizon claims that they have 24/7 support), cant imaging that they had such high volume of customers calling. Anyway then I called at 1am, got someone on line, did reset my card, got some programs but they had to reprogram my card. In the morning it was broken again. Then I called at 6am and I got someone. Resolved problem again by resetting my card, and they pushed programming again to that card. Sucks, so I requested to just get a new HD receiver. Tech come over replaced it and everything is working ever since. So small thing, those cards are not to advanced therefore not that great to have them unfortunately.
Awesome, today I finally got my Verizon FiOS TV. So now I can drop my TimeWarner Cable TV service.
Verizon will be installing FiOS TV service. My video installation includes:
High Definition 6200 (SHE)
DVR 6416 PROV (SHE)
Cable Card – HDNO 08
BROADBAND HOME ROUTER CONSUMER
Digital Video
Home Media DVR – High Def
TVP Polonia (Polish)
High Definition Content
Video on Demand Service
Extreme HD
So after running brand new Fiber to my house now I am watching TV. I did not call Time Warner cable to cancel it yet, but will do it later on tonight or tomorrow.
After watching my new TV for few minutes already I did notice that I cannot use my Cable Card with my DVR as Sales Rep told me that I would be able to watch recordings on all my TV’s, so I will have to call and ask for a different box. Guess sales people need to be trained a bit more on this. Those internal cable or FiOS cards will never work well as they are not bi-directional so they can only receive signal one way and cannot communicate back. Also the remote control that I got does not control that card, it switches to cable option and sends signal but there is no cable box so I cannot control my DVR and access recordings. Oh well, will just need to get stand alone box that will have to find location where to put it on.
As you know I have ooma system that I did purchase at amazon.com
, for past few weeks and I am pretty happy about having it. Running ooma over FiOS is just best.FiOS is so fast, I do not see any latency and sound quality is great. Seriously any VoIP (Voice Over IP) is going to be great while running over FiOS service.
Actualy amazon.com
has at this moment quite big discount on OOMA device, much lower than what other vendors offer it for, check it out, its certainly worth it.
