Apple did it again.

September 10th, 2009 No comments

Oh Apple, you suck again and again. So yesterday was the day, all 9’s, 2009/09/09  what a day. Everyone expected great announcements and what a disappointment. Here is my stake at this Apple crap that everyone has to put up with:

Apple instead of focusing on fixing problems with iTunes (I am unable to delete items on my iTouch for example that would remove those removed items in iTunes, when I sync they will get put back to my iTouch, why? Why not be able to delete things? Well I can delete but iTunes will just ignore my request and will put those deleted items back, so why even have this option of delete in there? Another issue that I have with iTunes is that lets say I have podcast that I do subscribe, let’s say I have 30 podcasts in there, somehow iTunes will take this subscription and create multiple subscriptions for that one entry, so then all those 30 podcasts that are in the subscription will be divided in between them. I have for example Attack of the Show subscription, and I have around 30 podcasts for it, so when I look at my iTunes, I see 3 separate entries for Attack of the Show subscription, and those 30 podcasts will be put in between those subscriptions. That is so messed up. When I listen, I don’t know which one will have the latest entries and which one will not, so I sometimes have to jump in between 3 of them to see latest podcast. Sucks, but what did Apple do? They got in iTunes 9, what did they do? Only crap that they do care, some Genius crap that I do not even know who is using it, or they focus on how to make sure that Palm Pri will not sync with it, Apple, you are so stupid, those are your potential music buyers, they can purchase songs, videos from your store? Why on earth would you limit and dismiss potential buyers? Because what? Because people did not buy your hardware? Or because Pri could be potential threat to your hardware? Well let me tell you this, I am looking for new phone, and I did check other phone that I would consider to purchase but iPhone seems like is the only one that I really want… For now phone market is yours, unless some other company will come out with killer phone with some fancy OS you have nothing to worry about, but let me tell you this, competition is closing up on you Apple. That also brings me to my other item, competition is closing up on Apple, in a big way, yes Apple has such great application/game base, you have solid product, but why not deliver and improve it? You will lose in a long run, why? Because one day, someone will come out with a new killer device that will beat anything that you have and then Apple will experience what it did already once in 90’s, where Apple almost disappeared, where Apple almost did not survive.

So anyway back to the announcement, what did Apple announce yesterday? Absolutely nothing that would be of any value. Yeah they releasing new iTouch, 64gb ram, sweet, faster cpu and more memory to match iPhone 3GS, but what else? Absolutely nothing. People were hoping to get a camera at least, why not? Apple why not? I would love to see GPS, who cares about stupid compass, I did not use compass for ages, why even have it in your iPhone, yeah its fun toy to play with, but who does use it? iPhone 3GS was previous disappointment and now iTouch news is another one.

Apple, my words to you, burn in hell, you suck big time because you got a product, which is excellent but you are limiting people what they can or cannot do, and you are not releasing what people truly want… Ah, that exclusive deal with AT&T should be illegal and FCC should punish you for that as they were doing to Microsoft for Internet Explorer, IE had some merit to why MS was including it with their own product, but what you are doing is just pure corruption, pure monopoly and is just wrong. I am seriously hoping that FCC will do something about it and one day you will pay for this.

Cydia on my iTouch just stop working

August 15th, 2009 No comments

Few days ago my Cydia stop lounching, did not care for a while but today it did anoy me a bit, so I started to look around, here is what I had to do to fix my problem with Cydia on my iTouch.

I did ssh to my iTouch. I’ve read to reinstall my cydia, so I did try to remove it but I did get an error, and it pointed to one of the repo Packages, so I did move it to tmp directory since it was a file. I did not know what to do with it, but it seems like it was just an html file. Then I did start cydia and it worked, so that was the offending file that caused my problem that prevented cydia to start.

# apt-get remove cydia
Reading package lists... Error!

E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/www.richcreations.com_iphone_apt-repo_._Packages

finaly fixed my time issue on my apple itouch once and for all

March 18th, 2009 No comments

Solution to your problem is to jailbreak your iphone or itouch, then you will be able to install ntpd daemon. Ntpd daemon synchronizes your device with public atomic clocks, it just works on any device, unix, windows and even mac os, why was it left out from iphone and itouch? Why apple left from sdk support for ntpd is beyond me.

Anyway after you jailbreak your itouch or iphone make sure you do install ntpd daemon.

when you install ntpd you need to vi /etc/master.passwd file and add the following entry to it:

_ntp:*:83:83::0:0:NTP Daemon:/var/empty:/usr/bin/false

shame on you apple

March 17th, 2009 No comments

Shame on you Apple for locking everything down, for being control freak, for not letting people use stuff that they buy at their maximum potential and capability. Recently I did jailbreak my itouch finally after waiting months for someone to figure it how to do it. Finally I am free at last from Apple’s control. I am so disappointed at Apple, seriously. I had problems with my itouch, but Apple does not give flying crap about me… I had annoying problems with my time, well after jailbreaking it I was able to install ntpd daemon and my time problem is sync with atomic clock constantly, so who gives a damn, this is freaking linux, Apple, ntpd is standard part of unix, why you did not include it as a default in every installation? SSH, access to shell? why not? Why? Cut & paste, whats so wrong with having people be able to cut & paste? Why it is so difficult? if you are unable to do it just open your freaking store to 3rd party developers who already did all of this. I am so so so disappointed at apple.

Ah, and sending threats to people who jaibreak their itouches or iphones is just immoral, its my device, I’ve paid for it and if you cant give me what this device was intended for then screw you Apple, you suck, that’s all I can say. You have potential of being the best and you always come short. Other companies do deliver products which have so much more, unlocked phones so I can use them with other carriers, open source applications, freedom of browsers, its so funny, MS did go trough browser monopoly lawsuits, why Apple is immune to such? Safari? Why it is the only one available for Apple? I just had it, Apple you suck.

itouch/iphone software 3.0 is due to be released today, big deal, if just adding the following is such a big deal for a full blown release, jeez, that sucks big time:

  • Copy & Paste
  • Organize apps into categories
  • Background Notifications (push)

my jailbroken itouch experience

March 14th, 2009 1 comment

I must say that I am extremely happy that I was able to jailbreak my phone. So far there is nothing but satisfaction. It did open realm of different opportunities that I was missing before. Now I have so much more power on the itouch than ever. I am unix admin, so unix is my world and I can now get into unix terminal shell and I can do anything I want with it. Installed openssh, I can connect to my servers and do anything that I desire and I do all day long at work.

There is only one thing that I did notice a bit as inconvenience, when I try to turn my iphone on sometimes its not turning on right away, sometimes I have to press power and home buttons together. It did improve from when I first started and I am not sure why this is happening, but its a very very minor glitch. Also I think when I am watching video on my itouch status bars are not transparent as they used to be, but I think I can address this with theme change or something like that.

The world of new possibilities that this itouch has now it is just incredible. For example, now I can have categories of my apps, so I can have beyond 141 apps installed, which is excellent. I’ve hears yesterday on one of my podcasts that people don’t use apps after they install them, that percentage is so low of used apps, even for apps that you pay, well most of the apps are I would call sensational, you want to check them out, have fun and then who cares about them.. So now you purchased so many apps what to do with them. I had so many apps and I wanted to try more but what should I do? some of the apps I did not want to delete because I did like them one way or the other, with jailbroken phone you can do that, I’m loving it. There are two programs that are out there which will let you know which apps did became free, appsniper and bargainbin, both of them are excellent, I like the second one as it looks pretty, but its slow. Anyway that gives you even more opportunities to install apps on your itouch, then with categories program you can just group them into different folders. This is so simple concept what they developed and I am just so surprised why apple did not adopt this or allowed to have in the app store to be purchased. The same is with cut&paste, why now? what is the reason behind not to include this?

Ehh, as I did say, I am more than happy to have my itouch jailbroken… its best that happen… :)

iPod touch 2G finally jailbroken with NitroKey

The iPhone Dev Team hackers have been teasing their redsn0w iPod touch jailbreak for what seems like forever now, but those you tired of waiting might want to check out the just-released NitroKey Slipstream. The $15 software does its thing on the 2.2.1 firmware, and automatically installs Cydia for all that jailbroken app action you crave — including the new paid apps store. Windows-only for now, but there’s apparently a Mac version in the works — hopefully we’ll see the free redsn0w take the lead back on that front. Report back if you take the plunge, would you?
